The Agatha Raisin series

Agatha Raisin: As The Pig Turns

M.C. Beaton

The eagerly awaited 22nd installment in the Agatha Raisin series
Winter Parva, a traditional Cotswolds village next door to Carsely, has decided to throw a celebratory hog roast to mark the beginning of the winter holiday festivities and Agatha Raisin has arrived with friend and rival in the sleuthing business, Toni, to enjoy the merriment. But as the spit pig is carried towards the bed of fiery charcoal Agatha - and the rest of the village - realise that things aren't as they seem...

Very quickly it transpires that the spit pig is in fact Gary Beech, a policeman not much loved in Winter Parva. And although Agatha has every intention of leaving the affair to the police, she rapidly changes her mind when she finds out Gary's ex-wife has hired Toni to investigate. Cantankerous and competitive as Agatha is, she has to now join the fray and try and solve the case herself!

Praise for M C Beaton's Agatha Raisin series:

I know I once vowed to read only Agatha Christie for a year but I cheated. My No. 1 mistress, M.C. Beaton and her Agatha Raisin whodunits. Agatha is like Miss Marple with a drinking problem, a pack a day habit and major man lust. In fact, I think she may be living my dream life. Entertainment Weekly.

Once again M. C. Beaton has concocted an amusing brew of mystery and romance that will keep her fans turning the pages. Publisher's Weekly.

Pure entertainment. The Guardian.

I truly enjoy the Agatha Raisin series. As rude, obstinate and bossy as Agatha is she is also endearing and fun. I love her character so much I even named my cat after her!

I am currently reading my way through the Agatha Raisin books and I love them. Agatha is unique individual who can make you laugh out loud but also drive you crazy with her love antics. Agatha is very loyal & kind hearted to her friends, she is also bossy and abrupt, but she will win you over.

The first book I read o The Agatha Raisin Series was just last month, 'The Deadly Dance'. I hooked. It like the add goes" you can't eat just one lay's potato chip" I have since devoured eight of The Agatha Raisin novels and have four on order. Thank you for taking away me away rom the tv and giving hours of entertainment.

Agatha is one hard nut with a soft centre a heart of gold to those she feels need a helping hand and all round good egg. All wrapped up in a prickly hedgehog personality. What is there not to like? A typically English eccentric that is why we adore her. May she NEVER ALTER!!!!

I just finished The Busy Body, a Christmas gift from a friend, and came to the website to see which book was next to order it, only to find that Toni and Agatha are now rivals, that certainly put a stop in my interest to follow the saga. I hope Ms. Beaton reads these because I think that was a bad move.

I loved this book. I so look forward to each new Agatha novel - I read it greedily - feeling like I was catching up with old friends. Exasperating but amusing friends. Am I the only one wishing the lovely James back in her life?

There is nothing quite as lovely as a brilliant fire, a cosy couch and a hot cuppa M.C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin!
I have sent many a friend to the bookstore to meet Ms. Raisin and have yet to disappoint. Ms. Beaton does a great job at keeping with styles and trends and keeping Aggie current and never stale or out of date. I know where I will be this winter, on my couch with a cup of tea and thee Agatha Raisin!
