The Agatha Raisin series

Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death

M.C. Beaton

Agatha revamped! Agatha Raisin's debut complete with brand new cover design.
Revenge is a dish best served warm...

High-flying public relations supremo Agatha Raisin has decided to take early retirement. She's off to make a new life in a picture-perfect Cotswold village. To make friends, she enters the local quiche-making competition - and to make quite sure of first prize she secretly pays a visit to a London deli.

Alas, the competition judge succumbs after tasting her perfect quiche, and Agatha is revealed as a cheat and potential poisoner. Definitely not the best start. So Agatha must turn amateur sleuth - she's absolutely got to track down the real killer!

Praise for the Agatha Raisin series:

'M. C. Beaton's imperfect heroine is an absolute gem.' Publishers Weekly

'Irresistible, unputdownable, a joy.' Anne Robinson

M C Beaton, I have read all of Hamish Macbeth, Travelling Matchmaker Series, Edwardian Murder Mysteries and nearly all the Agatha Raisin Series, I have a couple to read. I love your books. Well done. I have started reading your books under "Marion Chesney". Love those too. Avid reader.

Reading the first of these wonderful books I realised that in each of us there is a little bit of Agatha Raisin. Long live this lady!

After reading the entire Hamish MacBeth series, I was convinced that even M.C. Beaton could not create another character I could care about as much. Agatha is very different from Hamish, but both are very well developed, with many nuances and flaws we all can relate to. I am amazed that M.C. Beaton could simultaneously write these two series and still give Hamish and Agatha the individual attention to make them the wonderful characters they are.

I don't know if I should be aghast or pleased that I find a bit of myself in Agatha Raisin when I read each book. She is brash, brazen, and brave. BRAVO! (And she discovers little by little she's well-loved by her newly-adopted family: Her village.)
